Accompanist
Robin Easton is a Toronto percussionist, accompanist, live music technician, and owner of RatsPace Studio since its inception in 1993. He was a member of the Toronto reggae band the Skanksters for ten years, was a founding member of the jazz-ska group the Liquidaires, and toured as percussionist with the Juno-nominated rock group King Cobb Steelie. He performed with the Japanese avant garde rock group the Boredoms in both of their North American drum extravaganzas, Boadrum 77 in New York in 2007, and Boadrum 88 in Los Angeles in 2008.
As a stage and instrument technician, Easton has toured in over 20 countries on five continents, with Canadian artists Bedouin Soundclash, Jesse Cook, Metric, and Ron Sexsmith, and with British, Japanese, and American groups Bloc Party, the Boredoms, John Legend, Mogwai, Shonen Knife, Sonic Youth, and others. He is currently engaged as a guitar technician with the Mexican guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela.
Easton has accompanied dance for the Toronto District School Board and the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s high schools for the arts (Cardinal Carter Academy for the Arts, Cawthra Park Secondary School, Earl Hague Secondary School, Etobicoke School for the Arts, and Wexford Collegiate), as well as for Canadian Children’s Dance Theatre, Canadore College, Dancemakers, George Brown College, Kevin Pugh’s Dance Teq, Ontario Ballet School, the Randolph Academy, Ryerson University, The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, and York University.
