Risa Steinberg

Risa Steinberg, an active member of the dance community for over thirty years, is internationally known as a solo artist, teacher, rehearsal coach, and director of the works of José Limón.  She has both performed and taught extensively throughout Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. She appears frequently as a guest artist and has danced with the American Repertory Dance Company of Los Angeles, Danzahoy of Caracas, the José Limón Dance Company, as well as the companies of Wally Cardona, Colin Connor, Bill Cratty, Sean Curran, Annabelle Gamson, Daniel Lewis, and Anna Sokolow.

As a solo artist, she has presented her own concert, A Celebration of Dance, featuring repertory from Isadora Duncan and Doris Humphrey to contemporary choreographers. As a reconstructor of the works of José Limón, Steinberg has worked with companies and dancers around the world including Nureyev and Friends, Frank Augustyn, and Karen Kain. She is a faculty member at The Juilliard School, and teaches regularly at the Limón Institute in New York City. She continues to teach and perform throughout the world.
