Johanna Bergfelt, a native of Sweden, graduated from The Royal Swedish Ballet School in 1989. She has an extensive performance background beginning with Östgötabaletten where she worked for six years; she later joined Norrdans, and Barents Dance Ensemble. Since coming to Canada in 2000, she has worked with Kate Alton, Darcey Callison, The Chimera Project, Kaeja d'Dance, Louis Laberge-Côté, Kathleen Rea, Holly Small, Santee Smith, and William Yong; she was also a company dancer with Toronto Dance Theatre for six years. She has been nominated three times for a Dora Mavor Moore Award, for her role in Sly Verb with Toronto Dance Theatre, for Scharachnia by Louis Laberge-Côté, and as part of the ensemble for Unfinished 32 by Roberto Campanella and Robert Glumbek.
Apart from performing, Bergfelt teaches regularly at Canada’s National Ballet School, Dance-teq, GMD, The School of Toronto Dance Theatre, and Toronto Dance Theatre, as well as teaching Pilates at Riverdale Pilates.
