Lynchtown portrays a lynch mob’s thirst for the kill. Like many of Weidman’s greatest dances, Lynchtown was based on his personal experiences and observations. As a very young boy, Weidman witnessed a lynching in Omaha, Nebraska, and was overwhelmed by the violence of the crowd.

In 2004, I was commissioned by New York State Summer School for the Arts, to create an étude for their students. I decided to deal with the sacred and profane prevalent in much of my works. Originally intended as a study tool, it became a dance entitled Parade of the Spirits. - D.G.

elysian fields \i-'li-zhen\ often capitalized E - The landscape of paradise; an abode of delight an idyllic place. In ancient Greek and Roman mythology, Elysium (Greek, meaning happy, delightful) was the place where heroes and those blessed by the Gods went after death.
