About the Program

The School of Toronto Dance Theatre runs a program of Contemporary Dance Classes designed for individuals who want to experience the joy of movement through contemporary dance. Classes are held in the evenings and on weekends. They are suitable for dancers aged 16 and over, from beginners to advanced, and offer you the chance to learn in a stimulating and supportive environment.

Focusing on use of breath, weight, energy, flexibility, and the thrill of jumping and moving through space, these classes include work based on the techniques of Martha Graham and José Limón, as well as other contemporary styles.  Participants experience increased strength, flexibility, and endurance, as well as improved body awareness and self-confidence.  Students learn from inspiring teachers and dance to live accompaniment. Beginners can enroll for the 12 week Fundamentals of Dance courses, while dancers with various levels of experience can purchase a class card for 5, 10, or 20 classes, or just turn up and drop in to Contemporary Technique classes.

Find the joy of movement through contemporary dance.  We have a class for you, whatever your experience!

Please note that these are not professional level classes.
