Adam White is an actor, musical director, and teacher. He has played the Tin Man in The Wizard of Oz, Ethan in The Full Monty (Empire Theatre), and Cosme McMoon in Glorious! (Stage West Calgary and Globus Theatre), and he created the role of Ray in Tee Schneider’s hockey drama The Shift. Passionate about Canadian musical theatre, he is proud to have performed in the World Premiere of Leslie Arden’s One Step Forward (Talk Is Free Theatre), and From Broadway to King Street, a revue featuring Canadian musical theatre. He has also appeared in Anne of Green Gables and as Valmont in Les Liaisons Dangereuses (Randolph Academy).
White has been Musical Director Anne of Green Gables (Smile Theatre), Hair (Toronto Youth Theatre), A New Brain (Theatre Sheridan), and workshops of the new Canadian musicals My Side of the Country and Hard Hats (ScriptLab). He was Sound Designer for Macbeth for Classical Theatre Project, and as Resident Musical Director of the We Few Collective, he has created original music for productions of Jewel, Mary Zimmerman’s Metamorphoses, and Lion in the Streets.
White is also the Musical Director and pianist for a cabaret series with performer Kyle Golemba (Stratford Shakespeare Festival, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas). In summer 2011 White and Golemba presented Making Love in a Canoe, an all-Canadian cabaret, at the Stratford Summer Music Festival, and they are currently recording an album of the material from the show.
As a teacher White is on the faculty of the Randolph Academy of Performing Arts, and the Randolph Kids program. He also teaches music and vocal classes at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. He maintains a private studio and has prepared voice students for auditions, recitals, and Royal Conservatory of Music examinations. A graduate of the Randolph Academy of Performing Arts, he has also studied Jazz Performance (Voice), and Arranging and Composition at Humber College, and completed Grade Nine Voice and Piano with the Royal Conservatory of Music. He is continuing his arts education, and is completing a Creative Writing Certificate.
